  Q: How do you remove and install an exhaust manifold in four cylinder engine on Chrysler Cirrus?

  A: To remove the exhaust manifold, unbolt the negative battery terminal connection from the ground stud on the left shock tower. Release the parking brake and turn rear wheels and raise the front part of the car and firmly place it on jack stands. It is recommended that penetrating oil be applied to the head exhaust pipe fasteners so as to ease removal; the fasteners joining the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold are then to be removed and the two separated. Unbolt or unclasp the seal ring or gasket if any, and disconnect the wire harness from the upstream oxygen sensor, unbolt the heat shield to the exhaust manifold bolts, and then, take the heat shield out. After that, unlock the exhaust manifold bolts and wrench out the exhaust manifold; it is possible to also need to pull off the exhaust pipe to do this.
