- Q: How to Replace a Receiver-Drier in an A/C System on Chrysler Sebring?A: When replacing entire components, additional refrigerant oil must be added equal to the amount that is removed with the component being replaced. Read the label on the oil container to verify that it is compatible with the R-134a or R-1234yf system before adding any of it to the system. On some models, the A/C Accumulator is contained in the side of the air conditioning condenser, and must be replaced as a unit. Removal: Have the system discharged and the refrigerant recovered by an air conditioning technician. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the remote ground terminal or battery. Loosen the right-front wheel lug nuts. Set the parking brake, raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the right front wheel. Remove the inner fender splash shield retainers and pull out the splash shield far enough to gain access to the A/C Accumulator. Remove both line fittings from the A/C Accumulator. Plug all openings immediately to prevent contamination. Remove the mounting fastener retaining the A/C Accumulator to the mounting bracket. Loosen the mounting strap and remove the A/C Accumulator. Installation: Installation is the reverse of removal. Install new O-rings onto the line fittings and lightly coat them with the correct refrigerant oil. Only use O-rings that are designed specifically for A/C system applications. If you are replacing the A/C Accumulator with a new unit, add 0.7-ounce (20 ml) of refrigerant oil to the replacement. Have the system evacuated, recharged and leak tested by the shop that discharged it.
