To unlock the side latch mechanisms, it is necessary to unbolt and disengage the latch assembly, and tighten the cable end using a screwdriver. To gain access to the cable-latch connection, the latch can be pulled out or the push-in fasteners, which are rather small, can be removed with a small screwdriver in order to remove the black plastic latch cover. Inside the passenger compartment, take out the screws to loose the hood release cable and handle assembly; under the dashboard, there is a cable grommet which has to be removed from the firewall.
