- Q: How to remove and install an exhaust manifold in V8 engine on Dodge Magnum?A: Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the engine splash shield. Detach the exhaust pipes from the exhaust manifolds. Connect an engine hoist to the engine and remove the engine mount-to-subframe fasteners. Working from the engine compartment, disconnect the oxygen sensors electrical connectors and remove the sensors. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield mounting bolts/nuts and remove the heat shield. Remove the bolts retaining the exhaust manifold to the Cylinder Head. Raise the engine up enough to allow the exhaust manifold to be removed. Clean the manifold and head gasket surfaces and check for cracks and flatness. Replace the exhaust manifold gaskets. Install the exhaust manifold(s) and fasteners. Tighten the bolts/nuts to the torque. Work from the center to the ends and approach the final torque. Install the heat shields. Apply anti-seize compound to the exhaust pipe-to-exhaust manifold bolts and tighten them securely. Installation is otherwise the reverse of the removal procedure.
