Dodge Ram 2500 Antenna Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How do I disconnect and remove various types of antennas on Dodge Ram 2500?
A: Disconnect the cable(s) from the negative battery terminal(s). For the radio antenna, remove the right-side kick panel/threshold trim panel. Working in the right kick panel area, disconnect the antenna side of the cable from the radio side of the cable. Disconnect the antenna cables. Tie a piece of string to the antenna end of the cable. Unscrew the antenna mast from its base using a small wrench of the appropriate size. Remove the base retaining nut and the antenna base using an antenna wrench available at auto parts stores. Open the passenger's door, then pull the antenna downward and out. Don't allow the pull cord to come out. If you're installing a new antenna, tie the cord to the end of its cable, then use it to pull the cable through the body panels. Ensure that the rubber grommet is fully seated. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal. For the satellite radio antenna, the rear of the headliner must be pulled down for access. Because this requires the removal of several interior trim panels, we recommend that you have this procedure done by a shop familiar with this type of work. For the navigation system antenna, remove the radio. Disconnect the antenna from its bracket and remove it. Installation is the reverse of removal.
