How to Remove and Install a Disc Brake Caliper on Dodge Ram 2500?

This procedure applies to the front and rear disc brake calipers. To begin, loosen the front or rear wheel lug nuts and raise the vehicle, securing it on jackstands. Block the wheels at the opposite end and remove the front or rear wheel. Next, remove the brake hose-to-caliper banjo bolt and disconnect the brake hose from the caliper. Remember to discard the old sealing washers and plug the brake hose immediately to prevent contaminants and air from entering the brake system. If you are only removing the caliper for access to other components, leave the brake hose connected and suspend the caliper with a length of wire, ensuring it does not hang by the hose. Remove the caliper mounting bolts and detach the caliper from the mounting bracket. When installing, use new sealing washers on each side of the brake hose fitting and tighten the banjo bolt and caliper mounting bolts. Finally, bleed the brake system if the brake hose was disconnected, checking for leaks and testing the brakes before returning the vehicle to normal service.

If you are only removing the caliper for access to other components, leave the brake hose connected and suspend the caliper with a length of wire, ensuring it does not hang by the hose. Remove the caliper mounting bolts and detach the caliper from the mounting bracket. When installing, use new sealing washers on each side of the brake hose fitting and tighten the banjo bolt and caliper mounting bolts. Finally, bleed the brake system if the brake hose was disconnected, checking for leaks and testing the brakes before returning the vehicle to normal service.
