- Q: How to replace the oil cooler in a fuel system on Dodge Ram 3500?A: Relieve the fuel system pressure, then disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Drain the coolant. Remove the lower intake manifold. Remove the oil cooler mounting fasteners, including the mounting screws and bolts. Remove the oil cooler and discard the seals. Install new O-ring seals to the oil cooler. Do not lubricate the O-ring seals, install them dry. Place the oil cooler onto the block and install the two mounting screws. Install the mounting bolts and tighten the screws and bolts to the torque. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal. Change the engine oil and filter and refill the cooling system. Run the engine until normal operating temperature is reached, and check for leaks.
