Q: How Do You Replace a Wheel Hub Assembly on Dodge Ram 3500 and Ram 3500?
A: On 4WD models, start by loosening the driveaxle/hub nut and the front wheel lug nuts. Then, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands before removing the wheel. Remove the brake caliper and hang it out of the way with a piece of wire, and then remove the caliper mounting bracket. Pull the disc off the hub and remove the wheel speed sensor. On 4WD models, separate the tie-rod and upper balljoint from the Steering Knuckle, and then pull the top of the knuckle out to separate it from the axleshaft. From the rear of the steering knuckle, remove the hub retaining bolts and remove the hub from the steering knuckle along with the disc shield. To install, clean the mating surfaces on the steering knuckle, bearing flange, and knuckle bore. Position the disc shield, insert the hub and bearing assembly into the steering knuckle, and tighten the bolts. Finally, tighten the driveaxle/hub nut on 4WD models, tighten the brake caliper mounting bracket and brake caliper mounting bolts, install the wheel, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts.
