How to replace a thermostat in a cooling system?

Before removing the thermostat, inspect the coolant level, drivebelt tension, and temperature gauge. To remove the thermostat, detach the hose(s) from the fitting(s), and remove the housing cover. Next, reattach the thermostat, and hose(s), refill the cooling system, start the engine, and inspect for leaks and thermostat operation.
