Q: How to Remove and Install the Throttle Position Sensor?
A: This procedure is applicable to 3.7L V6 and 4.7L V8 engines, excluding Hemi engines and 3.6L V6 engines with the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) system. The ETC system does not utilize a removable TP sensor. To begin, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Next, remove the air intake duct and the air resonator box. Proceed by disconnecting the electrical connector from the TP sensor and removing the TP sensor mounting screws. Take out the TP sensor from the throttle body. When installing the TP sensor on the throttle body, ensure that the locating tangs on the backside of the TP sensor align with each side of the flat end of the throttle shaft. The sensor should fit flush against the throttle body and be able to rotate a few degrees to align the mounting holes. If not, reposition the locating tangs correctly and try again. Finally, reverse the steps for installation.
