Jeep Patriot Throttle Body
Throttle Body is used in Jeep Patriot cars, it is responsible for controlling the air that is supposed to mix with fuel in engine. Located between air cleaner and intake manifold, it has the butterfly valve which opens and closes dependent on accelerator pedal. It enables greater air admission during the pressed pedal and the signal is transmitted to the PCM to adjust the flow of fuel in return. On Jeep Patriot models have shifted from the mechanical throttle control to the more advanced feature known as the Electronic Throttle Control/Intelligence (ETC/I). This employs the use of sensors to relay information on pedal position to the PCM assembly for better integration of the new features and safety factors. Where earlier generations may have used Throttle Body Injection (TBI), today's Patriots mainly draw from multi-point fuel injection systems. The Throttle Body entails features such as Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and Idle Air Control (IAC) valve which enables the right operation of the engine.
