    There are four powertrain mounts, the front mount connects the transaxle to the crossmember; the left mount secures the driver's side of the engine to the subframe; the right engine mount attaches the engine block to the passenger's side of the subframe; and a rear mount links the engine block to the subframe. To check the mounts, the engine must be raised slightly to relieve weight from them. Begin by raising the vehicle and securely supporting it on jackstands, then remove the front wheels and tires. Position two jacks, one under the crankshaft pulley and the other under the transaxle bellhousing, using a block of wood to protect the components while raising the engine/transaxle just enough to relieve the mounts. Inspect the mounts for any cracks, hardened rubber, or separation from the metal plates, and check for movement between the mount plates and the engine or subframe, tightening any loose fasteners as necessary. Applying rubber preservative can help slow deterioration. For the front mount replacement, raise the vehicle, remove the splash shield, support the engine with a block of wood, and remove the front mount through-bolt and crossmember-to-mount bolts before taking out the mount. If the mount bracket needs replacement, remove the bracket-to-block bolts. Installation follows the reverse order. For the left mount, disconnect the negative battery cable, raise the vehicle, remove the throttle body air inlet tube and air filter housing, support the transaxle, and raise it to relieve weight from the mount. Remove the mount-to-transaxle and mount-to-body bolts, replace the mount, and tighten the bolts to the specified torque. The installation follows the reverse order. For the right mount, remove the coolant reservoir and power steering line bracket fastener, raise the vehicle, and support the engine. Remove the engine mount bracket bolts and the engine mount bolts, then replace the mount and tighten the mount-to-body bolts to the specified torque before lowering the engine and tightening the mount-to-bracket bolts. The installation follows the reverse order. For the rear mount, raise the vehicle, remove the engine splash shield and downstream oxygen sensor, support the engine, and remove the rear mount bracket-to-subframe bolts and the mount through-bolt. Remove the mount by twisting it slightly, install the new mount into the bracket, and tighten the through-bolt by hand. Align the mount to the subframe, install and tighten the bolts to the specified torque, and finish by tightening the through bolt. The installation follows the reverse order.

The engine must be lifted slightly to take weight off the mounts in order to do a check on the mounts. First safely chock the wheels and then jack up the car and support it with jackstands and then dismantle the front wheels and tires. Fix two jacks-one, under the crankshaft pulley and the other, under the transaxle bellhousing: then, put a wooden plank at four points to prevent damages on the parts prior to raising the engine/transaxle slightly off the mounts. Look for signs of cracking either on the mounts rubber or metal; through hardened rubber and check for relative movement between the mount plates and the engine or subframe tightening any bolts holding the two assemblies together as needed. This is a process that can be undertaken to try and make the rubber last longer though it will still deteriorate over time. For the front mount replacement, lift the car and place wooden block under the engine; unlock the front mount through bolt, cross member to front mount bolt and cross member bolts used for the mount before removing the mount. If the mount bracket is bad, remove the bracket to block bolts. The installation on its part follows the reverse order. For the left mount, the negative battery cable is disconnected and the vehicle is lifted upwards and the under-vehicle splash shield is removed also the throttle body air inlet tube and air filter housing. In support of the transaxle, lift it with a leverage to take off some load off the mount; thereafter, unscrew the bolts that hold the mount and replace it with a new one and torque the bolts to the recommended amount. As for the installation, the latter is set up in the reverse sequence. For the right mount: first, drain the coolant reservoir, then lift the vehicle and take off the under-vehicle splash shield. Slide the heater tube aside, and then unbolt the two engine mount bracket-to-timing cover support bolts, and the two engine mount bracket-to-mount bolts. Support the engine, take off the engine mount to body bolts and the body to mount bolts at the under side. Remove the engine mount, install the new one, use the torque to tighten the body-to-mount bolts, raise the engine and again use the torque to tighten the mount-to-bracket bolts. The installation also occurs in the reverse order to the one outlined above. To accomplish the rear mount, unbolt the throttle body air inlet tube and the air filter housing, lift up the car and unbolt the rear mount bracket to transaxle. Divide the bracket from the mount, take out the mounting bolts between mount and subframe, initiate a new mount in the space and fasten the bracket and through-bolt to the mount. Last of all, the fix the mount to the subframe and transaxle and use torque wrench and tighten all the bolts as required.
