To remove the rear parking brake cables, remove the rear wheels and the hub/drum assemblies. Back off the equalizer adjusting nut until the cable is slack. Disconnect the rear brake cable from the brake shoe lever. Locate the retainer at the end of the rear cable, where it enters the brake shoe backing plate. Pinch this retainer with pliers and pull the retainer through the backing plate. Remove the cable lock from the brake cable support bracket on the trailing arm and detach the cable from the trailing arm assembly. Disconnect the rear brake cable from the connector at the end of the middle cable.
