    Q:
How does the throttle cable affect shift quality and speed, and what are the necessary adjustments on Dodge Daytona? Posted by Customer
    A:
The throttle cable controls a valve in the transaxle that affects shift quality and speed, and if shifting is harsh or erratic, adjustment of the throttle cable is necessary, which should be done with the engine at normal operating temperature. For 1984 and 1985 models, loosen the cable adjustment bracket lock screw, ensuring the bracket can slide freely; if needed, clean the slot and sliding surfaces. Slide the bracket to the left to its limit, then move the throttle lever all the way to the right against the internal stop before tightening the lock screw to the specified torque. For 1986 models, loosen the cable mounting bracket lock screw and position the bracket so the alignment tabs contact the transaxle casting, then tighten the lock screw. Release the cross-lock on the cable assembly, ensuring it can slide toward the engine against the stop, then move the transaxle throttle control lever clockwise to the internal stop and press the cross-lock down to lock it in place. Avoid lubricating any throttle linkage components on later models. Finally, check the cable action by moving the transaxle throttle cable forward, releasing it slowly, and ensuring it returns completely.

    Q:
How do you disconnect the throttle cable and cruise control cable (if equipped) from the throttle body for the 1985 Chrysler Laser? Posted by Customer
    A:
Remove the retainer clips and disconnect the throttle cable and cruise control cable (if equipped) from the throttle body. Use pliers to compress the end fitting tabs so the cable can be separated from the mounting bracket. Use a small screwdriver to pry off the cruise control cable clip.
