    Q:
How do you remove and install the intake manifold in 3.7L V6 and 4.7L V8 engine on Dodge Durango? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the intake manifold one must first remove the cowl, the support brace, the wiper motor support bracket. Discharge the fuel system and remove the negative terminal of the battery. Take out the resonator or intake air duct from the throttle body, and label and disengage the vacuum lines of PCV valve, power brake booster, cruise control servo and the evaporative emission control. Loose all electrical connectors of the intake manifold sensors, Ignition coils and the Idle Air Control motor, also those of the alternator and the Air conditioning compressor. Remove the ground straps with the M10 bolts securing them to the intake manifold and throttle body, also detach the nut and tube of the engine oil dipstick. Take off the throtle and cruise control cables from the throtle body and bracket, the ignition coils, and the fuel rails, the throtle body and its mounting bracket. Open the drain and remove the heater hoses; also pull out the sensor for clearance. To do this, undo the intake manifold mounting fasteners in the reverse order that was used while tightening them; it is also important not to mar the gasket sealing surfaces. Any hoses that may be restricting the lifting of manifold should be labelled and disconnected then the manifold should be lifted upwards. In terms of installation, clean the sealing surfaces and gaskets after which should check the same to find out whether they need replacement. Align the manifold in position on the engine and fit the bolts loosely and tighten them lightly then finally to the desired torque as indicated in the procedures in the right sequence. The last part of this will be to reverse the removal procedure, add coolants to the system and look for any signs of leakage.
