    Q:
How to Remove and Replace a Radiator on Dodge Caravan? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Set the parking brake, raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Drain the cooling system. If the coolant is relatively new and in good condition, save it and reuse it. Remove the engine cooling fans. Detach the coolant reservoir hose from the radiator filler neck and retainer and then move it aside. Remove the vapor purge solenoid from its mounting bracket. Remove the lower engine splash shield. Disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses. Carefully separate the NC condenser from the radiator by removing the fasteners and then pulling the condenser up to release the lower clips. Note the position of the flexible air seals on each side of the radiator and then carefully lift out the radiator. Check the radiator for leaks and damage. If it needs repair, have a radiator shop or dealer service department perform the work, as special techniques are required. Bugs and dirt can be removed from the radiator by spraying it with a garden hose nozzle from the back side. The radiator should be flushed out with a garden hose before reinstallation. Check the radiator rubber mounts for deterioration and replace them if necessary. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Make sure the NC condenser is properly attached to the radiator before seating the radiator into the lower rubber mounts. After installation, fill the cooling system with the proper mixture of antifreeze and water. Start the engine and check for leaks. Allow the engine to reach normal operating temperature, indicated by the upper radiator hose becoming hot. Recheck the coolant level and add more if required.
