    The camshaft position sensor determines fuel injection timing. On 2.4L four-cylinder engines, it is located on the right side of the cylinder head. On 3.7L V6 and 4.0L models, it is located at the front of the right-bank cylinder head and front-top of the timing belt cover, respectively. To remove, disconnect the electrical connector and follow specific steps. For installation, adjust the air gap and tighten the mounting bolts. Clean the mounting bore and apply engine oil on the O-ring.

Then, disconnect the electrical connector from the CMP sensor and remove the sensor mounting bolt. For Hemi engines, remove the air filter housing or air intake tube, disconnect the electrical connector, and remove the sensor mounting bolt. For 3.6L V6 engines, remove the air filter housing or air intake tube, and if necessary, the upper intake manifold. Disconnect the electrical connector, unscrew the sensor mounting bolt, and pull the sensor from the valve cover.
