Before going any further, one must disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to work on the speedometer identification cable. Then, remove the upper instrument panel and lower the instrument cluster as well as the lower steering column cover. , then unscrew the collar at the transaxle coupling in the engine compartment, and unscrew the speedometer cable at the coupling or at the distance sensor on the transaxle. For the passenger compartment remove the speedometer cable and grommet from through the instrument panel and from the vehicle. For installation run the cable through the IP/Dash do not kink the cable and make sure that the grommet is properly set in place. Last of all, join the cable to the coupling or transaxle as well as fit the instrument cluster back in its proper position.
