After installation, the fuel pump should be activated without starting the engine to build up fuel pressure, and a check for leaks should be performed.

The assembly should be guided into the injector bores on the intake manifold, and mounting nuts/bolts should be tightened to secure it.

Remove the air intake duct and disconnect the fuel supply line. Label and disconnect any vacuum hoses and electrical connectors that may interfere with fuel rail removal. Remove the ignition coils and clean any debris around the injectors. Remove the fuel rail mounting bolts and gently rock the fuel rail to loosen the injectors. Remove the fuel rail and injectors as an assembly.

It is important to check for fuel line leaks before proceeding with any checks on diesel fuel injectors.

Complete the installation process in reverse. After installation, turn the ignition switch to On a few times without starting the engine to build up fuel pressure and check for fuel leaks in the lines, fuel rail, and injectors.

On V6 models, do not separate the left and right fuel rails, as both sides are serviced together. Remove the injectors from the fuel rail, discard the O-rings, and replace them with new ones coated in clean engine oil. Clean the injector bores on the intake manifold and insert the injectors into their corresponding bores in the fuel rail. Securely tighten the fuel rail mounting nuts/bolts, connect the fuel line(s), and ensure they are properly seated. Connect the electrical connectors to each injector, following numbered tags if present.

Symptoms may include fuel knock, poor acceleration and performance, low fuel economy, rough engine idle, and engine misfire.
