    Remove the nut and bolt that attach the upper end of the shock absorber to the frame, using penetrating oil if necessary. Then, remove the nut and bolt that attach the lower end of the shock to the axle bracket, again using penetrating oil if necessary.

    Start by loosening the front wheel lug nuts and raising the vehicle on jackstands. Remove the front wheels and support the outer end of the control arm using a floor jack or equivalent. Then, remove the fasteners that attach the upper end of the shock to the frame and disconnect the stabilizer bar link from the lower control arm. Remove the fasteners attaching the lower end of the shock absorber to the lower control arm and finally, remove the shock absorber.
