These models are fitted with an SAS, or airbag system, for the protection of the driver and front seat passenger, in the event of an accident which may cause serious injury. The system comprises of air bag modules mounted on the steering wheel hub as well as on the dashboard above the glove compartment; the driver's side air bag is mounted on the steering column horn. Control of the air bags is housed in the Airbag Control Module (ACM) located on the floor pan beneath the center console between the shift lever and the parking brake lever and containing the impact sensor.
