Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Loosen the alternator adjustment bolt and pivot bolt nut. Loosen the right front wheel lug nuts, then raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands before removing the right front wheel. Remove the support bracket and the accessory drivebelt splash shield. Loosen the alternator lower pivot bolt and remove the alternator drivebelt. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the alternator. Remove the driveaxle. Take out the alternator lower pivot bolt and swing the alternator out of the way without removing the upper adjustment bolt and pivot bolt yet. Remove the alternator mounting bracket, then take out the power steering oil cooler bolts and set the oil cooler aside to provide enough clearance for the alternator removal. Remove the alternator adjustment bolt, the pivot bolt nut, and the pivot bolt, then take the alternator out from the bottom. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring to tighten the alternator bolts securely and the driveaxle/hub nut to the specified torque, along with installing a new cotter pin. Finally, tighten the wheel lug nuts to the specified torque.
