If you have a fixed antenna, then you need to unscrew the antenna mast from the actual antenna with an open-end wrench of a smaller size and then you have to take off the liner on the side of the right trunk. The lead then unscrews from the base of the antenna body and the mounting bolt holding the antenna body to the rear quarter panel needs to be undone before the body of the antenna can be pulled fully out of the quarter panel. For removal, they can be unstitched in the exact opposite manner to how they were sewn in the first place. In the case of power antenna, remove the negative battery terminal from the ground stud from the left shock tower, then unplug trunk liner, drain tube and the antenna leads from the power antenna. Pull the electrical connector off the antenna motor, unbolt the ground strap or the antenna brace from the rear quarter panel and slide out the antenna. Reinstallation is the process of reinserting back the various bolts and nuts and also guaranteeing that the fender grommet location tab slides over the slot in the body, and the ball of the antennas follows the grommet far as it can go. When you want to remove the power antenna mast you have to first unscrew the cap nut then you turn the ignition key to the ACCESSORY position and turn the radio ON; to do this you have to pull the mast up and in pulling, the mast comes out along with the contact spring and drive rod. For installation, the new antenna mast, contact spring and the drive rod should be inserted in the body with the teeth of drive rod toward the antenna motor, the radio should be switched off then the drive rod is inserted in the body and the cap nut is fixed. The mast may not fully retract after the first time of setting up; power on the radio and off and raise and lower the mast several times so the mast finally retracts fully.
