Start by removing the battery hold-down clamp. Unscrew the hold-down bolt and remove the clamp. Carefully lift out the heavy battery.

Disconnect the negative cable first, then the positive cable. Remove the battery thermo-wrap, hold-down clamp, and lift out the battery. Replace it with a battery of identical specifications. When removing the battery tray, disconnect the hose from the vacuum reservoir, remove the mounting bolt and nuts, and lift up the tray while disconnecting the electrical connector from the battery temperature sensor. Wash the tray and reinstall it following the reverse of the removal process.

If the battery tray is damaged, it should be repaired or replaced.

Connect the positive (+) battery cable first, then the negative (-) battery cable second.

If corrosion is present on the cables and terminals, clean them and apply petroleum jelly or grease to minimize future corrosion.
