Pump the pedal several times with the engine off to remove any vacuum from the booster. Disconnect the cable from the remote ground terminal or battery. Unbolt the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) on 2014 and earlier models or the Power Distribution Center (PDC) and its bracket on 2015 and later models. Remove the Anti-lock Brake System Integrated Control Unit (ICU). Clean the area where the master cylinder attaches to the power brake booster. Remove the master cylinder and disconnect the brake lines from the junction block below the power brake booster, plugging all open lines. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the check valve on the outside of the brake booster. Under the dash, disconnect and remove the brake light switch. Disconnect the brake pedal pushrod from the top of the brake pedal and replace the retaining clip. Remove the nuts attaching the booster to the firewall. Finally, carefully withdraw the brake booster unit from the firewall and out of the engine compartment.
