    Q:
How should calipers be replaced and what are the steps involved in the removal and installation process on Dodge Challenger? Posted by Customer
    A:
Always replace the calipers in pairs; never replace just one of them. To remove, first loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands before removing the wheels. Next, remove the brake hose banjo bolt and disconnect the hose from the caliper, plugging the hose to keep contaminants out of the brake system and minimize brake fluid loss. If only accessing other components, do not detach the hose. For non-SRT models with floating calipers, remove the caliper mounting bolts, lift the caliper from the bracket, and support it with a length of wire if the hose remains attached. For SRT models with fixed calipers, remove the caliper-to-steering knuckle bolts at the front or caliper-to-rear knuckle bolts at the rear to detach the caliper from the knuckle. For installation, reverse the removal procedure, tightening the caliper mounting bolts to the specified torque. If the brake hose was detached, install new sealing washers on each side of the brake hose fitting and tighten the banjo bolt to the specified torque. If the hose was disconnected, bleed the brake system. Finally, install the wheels and lug nuts, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque.
