This procedure applies to both the front and rear disc brake calipers. To begin, loosen the lug nuts on the front or rear wheels and raise the vehicle, securely placing it on jackstands. Block the wheels at the opposite end and remove the wheel. Next, remove the brake hose-to-caliper banjo bolt and disconnect the brake hose from the caliper. Discard the old sealing washers and plug the brake hose immediately to prevent contaminants and air from entering the brake system. If you are only removing the caliper for access to other components, leave the brake hose connected and suspend the caliper with a length of wire, ensuring it does not hang by the hose. Remove the caliper mounting bolts and detach the caliper from the mounting bracket. For installation, use new sealing washers on each side of the brake hose fitting and tighten the banjo bolt and caliper mounting bolts to the specified torque. Finally, bleed the brake system if the brake hose was disconnected, checking for any leaks from the hose connections. Test the brakes carefully before returning the vehicle to normal service.
