    Q:
How to remove and install the instrument panel on Chrysler Sebring? Posted by Customer
    A:
This is a difficult procedure for the home mechanic. There are many hidden fasteners, difficult angles to work in, and many electrical connectors to tag and disconnect/connect. We recommend that this procedure be done only by an experienced do-it-yourselfer. During removal of the instrument panel, make careful notes of how each piece comes off, where it fits in relation to other pieces, and what holds it in place. If you note how each part is installed before removing it, getting the instrument panel back together again will be much easier. Disconnect the cable from the remote ground terminal or battery. Remove the steering wheel and column as a unit. Remove all dashboard trim panels and the glove box. Remove the air conditioning and heater control assembly. Remove the instrument cluster, radio, and instrument panel speakers. Remove the front seats. Remove the center floor console. Remove the shifter knob and disconnect the shift cable. Disconnect the dashboard wiring harnesses at each A-pillar. Remove the instrument panel side air vents. Remove the radio support bracket. Remove the passenger's side lower trim panel fasteners and remove the panel. Disconnect the electrical connectors to the occupant restraint controller. Disconnect the A/C and heating wiring harness electrical connectors. Disconnect the A/C and heating wiring harness from the A/C and heating housing. Disconnect the passenger airbag, then remove the instrument panel-to-air conditioning/heater housing fastener. Remove the fastener securing the top of the instrument panel. Remove the fasteners that secure the A/C and heating housing to the bottom of the instrument panel support. Disconnect the antenna harness and main vehicle harnesses. Remove the ground wire and separate the data link connector from the instrument panel. Remove the hood release cable handle. Located between the door and the fender's edge, remove the bolt holding the instrument panel at the side. Repeat on the other side. Remove the instrument panel support mounting fasteners. Remove the instrument panel mounting bolts from each end of the instrument panel. Caution: To avoid damage to the instrument panel when removing these last bolts, have an assistant support the instrument panel. You'll also need an assistant's help when installing the instrument panel and these bolts. With an assistant helping you, remove the instrument panel from the vehicle. Installation is the reverse of removal.
