Follow these steps: 1. Discharge the air conditioning system. 2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal(s). 3. On 2010 and later diesel models, remove the air filter housing and the turbo outlet pipe. 4. Disconnect the compressor clutch electrical connector. 5. Remove the drivebelt. 6. Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the compressor and plug the open fittings. 7. Unbolt the compressor from the mounting brackets and lift it out of the vehicle. On Hemi engines, remove the alternator bracket mounting bolts and the compressor bracket. 8. If installing a new compressor, drain excess oil as per the compressor's instructions and ensure compatibility with R-134a refrigerant. 9. Transfer the clutch from the old compressor to the new one if necessary. 10. Install the new compressor using new O-rings made for air conditioning use and compatible with R-134a refrigerant, lubricated with refrigerant oil. 11. Have the system evacuated, recharged,and leak-tested by the shop that discharged it.
