    How to remove and replace a heater core on Chrysler PT Cruiser? Posted by Customer

    Have the AC system discharged by a professional before starting. Drain the cooling system, disconnect the heater hoses, remove the coolant reservoir and instrument panel. Disconnect the AC lines, refrigerant line connector block, vacuum lines, and drain tube from the HVAC housing. Remove the defroster duct, HVAC mounting nuts, and housing. Remove the foam seal and heater core. Clean any leaked coolant. Installation is the reverse of removal.

    Have the air conditioning system discharged and the cooling system drained. Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core inlet and outlet pipes. Remove the coolant reservoir and instrument panel. Disconnect the refrigerant line connector block and expansion valve. Disconnect the vacuum lines from the brake power booster. Remove the drain tube and evaporator drain hose. Remove the defroster duct from the HVAC housing. Remove the HVAC mounting nuts and bolts. Remove the HVAC housing mounting bolts. Remove the foam seal from the air distribution outlet, evaporator lines and heater core tubes. Remove the upper and lower heater case mounting screws and clips. Pull the heater core out of the housing. Installation is the reverse of removal. Refill the cooling system.
