To remove the front bumper, open the hood and support it with the prop rod, then disconnect the negative battery cable from the ground stud on the left shock tower. Next, remove the fasteners securing the front fender inner splash shields to the lower section of the bumper and pull the splash shields away from the fender well as needed to access the bolts securing the bumper to the front fender. Remove the push-in fasteners at the bottom of the bumper that secure it to the radiator lower support, and if equipped, disconnect the fog light wiring harness connectors. Then, remove the push-in fasteners securing the bumper (and grille on Cirrus models) to the radiator upper support by prying out the center stud and removing the outer housing. Disengage the bumper from the hooks on the front fenders and carefully remove it from the vehicle, placing blankets or padding on the ground to protect the paint. If necessary, the bumper reinforcement bar can be removed by disconnecting the battery temperature sensor electrical connector and removing the three bolts at each end of the bar. For installation, follow the reverse order of removal. To remove the rear bumper, open the trunk lid and remove the left rear tail lamp while disconnecting the license plate light wiring from the tail lamp assembly. On Cirrus models, also remove the right rear tail lamp, then work inside the tail lamp cavities to remove the push-in fasteners securing the bumper to each rear quarter panel. Next, remove the push-in fasteners securing the trunk lid slam pads to the rear bumper and the center of the bumper to the rear closure panel, followed by the screws holding the bumper to each rear wheel well splash shield and the bolts securing the bumper to the rear quarter panel in each wheel well. Slide the bumper rearward to disengage the hooks securing it to the bottom of each quarter panel and remove it from the vehicle, again placing blankets or padding on the ground for protection. If needed, the bumper reinforcement bar can be removed at this time, marking the position of the nuts on the bar with a felt tip pen to assist with installation. For installation, follow the reverse order of removal.
