Engine mounts seldom require attention, but broken or deteriorated mounts should be replaced immediately to prevent damage or wear on driveline components. During the check, the engine must be raised slightly to remove the weight from the mounts. Begin by raising the vehicle and securely supporting it on jackstands, then position a jack under the engine oil pan with a large wood block between the jack head and the oil pan, carefully raising the engine just enough to relieve the weight on the mounts. Inspect the mount insulators for any cracks, hardened rubber, or separation from the metal center. Check for any relative movement between the mount and the engine or frame using a large screwdriver or prybar. If movement is detected, lower the engine and tighten the mount fasteners. To replace the mounts, disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery, raise the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands while supporting the engine. For 2WD models, remove the through-bolts, raise the engine with the jack, unscrew the mount fasteners, and detach the mount. Install the new mount(s) in the correct position within the bracket, then install and securely tighten the fasteners. For 4WD models, remove the skidplate from below the engine compartment, then remove the engine crossmember and the engine oil filter. Use an engine hoist to raise the engine slightly to relieve the weight on the engine mounts, and support the front axle with a floor jack. Remove the engine mount through-bolts and the bolts attaching the engine mounts to the front axle assembly, then lower the front axle slightly. Finally, remove the engine mount(s) from the vehicle, install the new mount(s) in the correct position within the bracket, and securely tighten the fasteners.

For replacement, disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery, remove the engine cooling fan and shroud, and raise the front of the vehicle securely on jackstands. Support the engine with a lifting device from above, ensuring not to connect it to the intake manifold, and raise the engine just enough to relieve the weight from the mounts.
