Before uninstalling the trunk lid, open it and place a cushion or cloth on the sides of the trunk compartment area. Place in a crowded area and remove wires and electrical connections that can be a hindrance when removing the object. Employ a marking pen to make alignment marks to indicate the position of the hinge on the doors. As the assistant stabilises the body weight on the lid, unscrew the hinge bolts from both sides and take off the trunk lid. To install it, follow the above listed removal procedures in reverse but be sure to make alignments on the marks you made before tightening the bolts. After installation, close the lid so to ensure that the gap is correct to the rest of the panels; for fore-and-aft adjustment, loosen the hinge bolts, reposition the lid, then tighten the bolts again. The height of the lid is also adjustable by slightly loosening the lock striker bolts, then moving the striker up or down and then tightening the bolts. To release the latch, one has to open the boot and get rid of the trim and then ease out the bolts and the latch at the same time with the electrical connections and cables. Cut the remote cable and disconnect the trunk electrical connectors from the lock but keep the lock cylinder link connected to the trunk. As for installation, it's a reversal of the above removal procedures while making sure the lock cylinder link can mesh well with the latch assembly.

The door and trunk locks should be lubricated using spray-on graphite lubricant.
