    Q:
How Do You Replace the Master Cylinder and Fluid Reservoir on a Chrysler Cirrus? Posted by Customer
    A:
The brake master cylinder used on these vehicles is not serviceable and must be replaced as a unit. However, you can replace the fluid reservoir and/or reservoir sealing grommets. To remove the brake master cylinder, disconnect the negative battery cable and pump the brake pedal until a firm pedal is achieved. If equipped, disconnect the cruise control electrical connector and detach the cruise control servo. Siphon the brake fluid from the brake master cylinder reservoir and dispose of it properly. Place rags under the brake line fittings and loosen the tube nuts at the ends of the brake lines. Unhook the clip and unplug the electrical connector from the brake fluid level sensor. Clean the area where the brake master cylinder attaches to the vacuum booster. Remove the two brake master cylinder mounting nuts and any brackets that may be attached. Slide the brake master cylinder off the studs and remove it from the vehicle. To install the brake master cylinder, make sure to engage the operating rod and tighten the mounting nuts securely. Before installing the brake lines, bleed the brake master cylinder with the help of an assistant. Fill the reservoir with the recommended brake fluid and slowly depress the brake pedal to expel air from the brake master cylinder. Repeat the procedure until only brake fluid is expelled from the brake line outlet hole. Loosen the brake master cylinder mounting nuts and connect the brake lines. Tighten the mounting nuts and fitting nuts securely. If equipped, install the cruise control servo and plug in the electrical connector. Fill the brake master cylinder reservoir with brake fluid and bleed the brake hydraulic system. To replace the fluid reservoir, siphon the brake fluid and disconnect the brake fluid level sensor electrical connector. Carefully rock the reservoir back and forth while gently pulling upward to remove it. Remove the grommets from the brake master cylinder and the brake fluid level sensor from the reservoir. Coat the new grommets with clean brake fluid before installing them.
