    Q:
What does the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) include and How to its remove and install on Dodge Challenger? Posted by Customer
    A:
The Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) includes the clock spring for the steering wheel airbag, the multi-function switch, the speed control switch, the Steering Angle Sensor (SAS), if equipped with Electronic Stability Program, and the Steering Column Module (SCM). Begin by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal and removing the steering wheel airbag and the steering wheel. For 2014 and earlier models, to prevent the clock spring from uncentering, loosen but do not remove at least one clockspring screw. Back out the setscrew through the access hole in the bottom of the SCCM, then remove the SCCM from the steering column and place it on a clean workbench. Loosen all three clockspring screws just enough to detach the clockspring from the SCCM without completely unscrewing them. Remove the clockspring from the SCCM, then detach the SAS by removing its retaining screw. If equipped with a manual telescoping steering column, remove the strut screws and the strut; for an electronic telescoping column, remove the switch mounting screws and the switch and stalk. Remove the speed control switch retaining screws and the speed control switch. If the SCCM assembly has an integral telescoping lever, remove the retaining screws and the lever assembly. Remove the screws at the bottom of the SCCM shroud to separate the SCM from the multi-function switch, then remove the switch and SCM as a single assembly and separate them. No further disassembly is possible, and installation is the reverse of removal. For 2015 and later models, use a flat-bladed trim tool to pry the steering column gap hider bezel from the steering column covers, then sharply tug on the SCCM/shroud assembly to slide it off the steering column and disconnect the wiring harness electrical connector. Remove the screws from the back side of the assembly, separate the cover halves, and remove the SCCM, with installation being the reverse of the removal procedure. For steering wheel switches, remove the steering wheel airbag and the steering wheel, turn the steering wheel upside down to remove the trim cover and expose the retaining screw, then detach the switch from the steering wheel and remove the securing screw. Turn the steering wheel over to remove the remaining screw securing the switch, feed the harness through the opening, and remove the switch. Installation is the reverse of removal.
