To remove the hold-down spring retainer and the caliper with brake pads, follow these steps: Push down at the center of the hold-down spring retainer and push it outward to remove it. Loosen the caliper guide pins sufficiently to allow the caliper to be removed. Lift the caliper forward and off the adapter and brake disc. The inner pad will remain with the caliper. Remove the inner pad by grasping it securely and unsnapping the retainer from the piston. Remove the outer pad from the caliper. If the noise suppression gasket causes the pad to adhere to the caliper, pry it loose with a screwdriver. Support the caliper out of the way with a wire hanger, ensuring that it doesn't hang by the brake hose.
