    Q:
How to remove and install a power steering pump on Dodge Caravan? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the fluid from the reservoir using a siphon or equivalent. Remove the accessory drive belt. For four-cylinder engines, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Disconnect the oxygen sensor wiring harness from the vehicle wiring harness near the rear motor mount bracket. Remove the catalytic converter from the exhaust manifold. Remove the exhaust system hangers/isolators from the brackets on the exhaust system and remove the exhaust system. Detach the fluid supply hose coming from the reservoir to the fitting on the power steering pump. Plug the hose to prevent excess fluid loss. Remove the power steering fluid pressure line and return hose from the power steering pump. Plug them to avoid fluid loss. Remove the nut attaching the rear of the power steering pump to the mounting bracket. Loosen the three bolts attaching the power steering pump to the front mounting bracket. Remove the power steering pump and the front bracket as an assembly through the exhaust tunnel under the vehicle. Remove the three bolts and separate the power steering pump from the front bracket. For V6 engines, remove the windshield wiper motor/module assembly. Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the accessory drive belt splash shield. Remove the bracket that secures the pressure line to the engine. Remove the power steering fluid pressure line and return hose from the power steering pump. Remove the power steering pump from the mounting bracket. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten all power steering mounting hardware. Tighten the pressure line-to-pump fitting securely. Make sure the hoses are properly routed and all hose clamps are tightened securely. Fill the power steering fluid reservoir with the recommended fluid. Connect the negative battery cable to the battery. Bleed the power system. Stop the engine, check the fluid level, and inspect the system for leaks.
