For the HEMI engine, there are two knock sensors located on the left and right sides of the block below the exhaust manifold.

To replace them, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. Then, disconnect the knock sensor electrical connector, which is located at the rear of the engine, behind the intake manifold. Remove the intake manifold and then remove the knock sensor assembly by taking out the mounting bolts. Make sure to clean the holes for the mounting bolts before installing the new knock sensor assembly. Note that the left knock sensor is identified by an identification tag and has a larger mounting bolt, so do not switch the knock sensors.

Install the sensor and tighten the knock sensor bolt to 84 in-lbs. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal. Refill the cooling system.

The knock sensors for the 3.6L V6, 3.7L V6, and 4.7L V8 engines are located on top of the block, in the valley between the cylinder heads, underneath the intake manifold.
