    Remove only one shock absorber at a time. Begin by raising the vehicle and positioning jackstands securely under the right or left frame rail, just forward of the front spring mount and just to the rear of the rear spring mount. Working from the side supported by the jackstand, take off the nut and washer from the lower shock absorber stud, which typically involves removing the lower mounting bolt from the rear shock absorber. Next, remove the upper shock mounting bolt and take out the shock absorber. After replacing or reinstalling the first shock absorber, repeat the steps for the other side. Finally, tighten the mounting bolts to the specified torque.
