For coil spring models, raise the rear of the vehicle on jackstands and remove the wheels. Disconnect the stabilizer bar link from the lower control arm. Use a floor jack to support the knuckle and raise it slightly. Remove the lower control arm-to-knuckle bolt and nut. Lower the control arm slowly to remove the spring. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Some signs of wear include leaking fluid, loss of damping capability, and chipped, sagging, or cracked coil springs.

On 2014 and earlier models, ensure that the side of the upper mount that protrudes more is facing towards the outside of the vehicle.

Install the shock absorber/coil spring assembly.

To disassemble the strut and spring assembly, you need to mount the strut clevis bracket portion in a vise and mark the components for reassembly. Then, install a spring compressor on the spring and compress it to relieve pressure from the upper mount. While holding the damper shaft, loosen the shaft nut with a socket. Remove the nut and upper mount, inspecting the pivot bearing and upper spring seat for damage. Lift the compressed spring from the assembly and remove the dust boot from the damper shaft. Slide the rubber bumper off the damper shaft and check the lower spring isolator for damage.

A floor jack should be used to support the knuckle and raise it slightly.
