    Q:
How do you remove the fuel tank on Chrysler Cirrus? Posted by Customer
    A:
To perform this process first, it requires removing the fuel tank filler cap, so that the pressure could be released. Do fuel pressure relief procedure and remove the negative terminal from the ground stud on the left shock tower. Inside the trunk, look to the left shock tower and fold back the mat there: there is a 4-pin connector for the fuel pump wiring harness; pull this connector off. Go down along the wire to the grommet located at the lower part of the rear seat, push the grommet in the hole in the floor pan and install the wiring and the connector through it. Loosen the fuel tank drain plug while the vehicle is on the ground in a level surface, fill an approved gasoline container and place it under the fuel tank drain plug, taking into consideration the use of the funnel in order to avoid any spillage of fuel when it is being drained. Open the drain plug and let the fuel to flow from the tank and close and tighten the drain plug. Open the clamp and remove the filler neck hose from the fuel tank and leave the quick-connect fuel line of fittings connected to the fuel pump module. At the back part of the fuel tank, remove the vapor hose connection of the rollover valve. Secure the position of the fuel tank by placing a floor jack underneath it; put a piece of wood twixt the jack head and the fuel tank. Take out the fuel tank strap bolts, and straps also. For 1998 models, lower the tank slightly and disconnect the EVAP canister purge line, remove the hoses from the EVAP canister, and remove the electrical connector from the Leak Detection Pump, be sure to label the hoses and fittings for reinstallation. Lower the fuel tank a little in order to remove the rear suspension crossmember then pull the fuel tank out of the car. To remove, undo the procedures mentioned above and fasten a piece of string or wire to the fuel pump module wiring harness then run the wire through the hole at the trunk floorpan of the car. After placing the tank safely secure to the car then pull the string to expose the wiring harness and tighten the fuel tank strap bolts to the torque required.
