To relieve the fuel system pressure, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Raise the vehicle and place it securely on jackstands. Loosen the hose clamp for the fuel filler neck hose and disconnect the fuel filler neck pipe from the filler neck hose. Disconnect the EVAP fuel vent hose quick-connect fitting from the metal EVAP vent pipe. If the fuel tank still has a lot of fuel in it, siphon the remaining fuel from the tank through the rubber fuel filler neck hose. Support the fuel tank with a pair of floor jacks. Remove the fuel tank retaining strap bolts and both retaining straps. Carefully lower the fuel tank just far enough to disconnect the electrical connector and fuel supply line from the fuel pump/fuel level sending unit module. At the front end of the fuel tank, locate the EVAP fitting and disconnect it. Remove the fuel tank. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring all components are transferred from the old fuel tank to the new tank and tightening the fuel tank strap bolts securely.
