Measure the inside diameter of each camshaft bearing and the bearing journals with a micrometer to check for excessive wear or out-of-round conditions, calculating oil clearance to determine if new bearings are necessary.

Install the camshaft thrust plate and chain oil tab, applying engine assembly lubricant to the thrust plate mating surface and ensuring the tang on the oil tab engages in the thrust plate hole.

Reverse the removal steps, applying moly-base grease, engine assembly lube, or clean engine oil to the lifters.
