    Q:
How to Replace the Expansion Valve in a Chrysler 300's Air Conditioning System? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the expansion valve in your vehicle's air conditioning system, you will need to follow these steps. First, have the air conditioning system discharged by an automotive air conditioning technician. Then, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Remove the bracket securing the refrigerant lines to the left shock tower. Disconnect the refrigerant lines at the firewall by removing the nut that secures the line fitting to the expansion valve. Cap or plug the line openings to prevent dirt or moisture from entering the system. Remove the two mounting screws that secure the expansion valve. Detach the expansion valve from the evaporator fitting and discard the old O-rings. During reassembly, make sure to use new R-134a compatible O-rings. Finally, have the system evacuated, recharged, and leak-tested by the shop that discharged it.
