    The EVAP system prevents fuel system vapors from escaping into the atmosphere. On warm days, vapors are routed from the fuel tank to the EVAP canister, where they're stored temporarily. The EVAP canister, containing activated charcoal, is located underneath the vehicle.

    The EVAP canister purge solenoid is located in the engine compartment, while the NVLD filter, EVAP canister, and NVLD pump assembly are located in front of the fuel tank. The NVLD filter can be removed without removing the canister, but the canister must be removed to access the NVLD pump. To remove the NVLD pump, squeeze the locking tab and rotate it counterclockwise.
