The reason the PCV valve is used is to control crankcase vapors that seep into the intake manifold. To make this possible, a spring-loaded valve that opens upon the vacuum produced in the intake manifold does it. For four-cylinder engines, it is located on the hose that connects the plenum with the intake manifold and valve cover; for V6 models, it is situated at the front of left-bank valve cover. To check if it's working, try removing this valve and starting the engine. If there is no hissing sound, look for a blocked hose or valve and replace it as necessary. Ensure that there are no contaminants or free movement of spring-loaded valves before replacing them. When installing it, ensure it matches your car type and has its closed end directed towards your vehicle's engine top.
