How to Install and Remove a Steering Wheel on Dodge Charger? Posted by Customer
    A:
Park the vehicle with the front wheels in the straight-ahead position. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Remove the two airbag module retaining screws and lift off the airbag module. Unplug the electrical connectors. If necessary, remove the clock spring mounting screws and lift the clock spring from the steering column. When installing, make sure the airbag clock spring is centered. Q:
How do you remove and install a steering wheel while ensuring the airbag system is properly handled on Dodge Challenger? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the steering wheel, park the vehicle with the front wheels straight ahead and disconnect the negative battery terminal cable. Handle the airbag module carefully, keeping the trim cover facing away from you, and place it in a safe location with the cover facing up. For 2014 and earlier models, remove the two airbag module retaining screws and lift off the airbag module. For 2015 and later models, use a narrow blunt tool to disengage the airbag retaining spring from its hooks. Unplug the electrical connectors for the airbag, horn, and other components, then slide the steering wheel off the shaft, noting the keyed relationship of the hub to the shaft. Remove the steering wheel bolt and discard it. For 2010 and earlier models, if necessary, remove the clockspring by lifting it from the steering column, ensuring to keep it centered with tape. For 2011 and later models, confirm the clockspring is centered by checking the inspection window; if not, the Steering Column Control Module must be replaced. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring the airbag clockspring is centered before installing the steering wheel, aligning the tab on the clockspring with the steering wheel hub, using a new steering wheel bolt tightened to the specified torque, and securing the airbag module in place according to the model specifications. Finally, enable the airbag system.
