Chrysler 200 Crankshaft Pulley

The Performance Crankshaft Pulley in Chrysle 200 is used to transmit power from the Chrysler's engine to other components like the power steering, A/C, and the alternator. These pulleys engage torque directly coming from the engine's crankshaft so that the Performance Crankshaft Pulley guarantees proper functioning of these systems. Besides, it plays the role of an effective harmonic which dampens vibrations in the operation of the engine to produce smoother results. Chrysler 200 cars use Performance Crankshaft Pulley that has been mentioned below, and various kinds of pulleys have been changed over the years to improve performance and efficiency. Such variation can be based on weight variations, material, and design of certain types affecting transfer of power and the degree of dampening offered to vibrations. While many modifications have occurred in the Chrysler 200, it is worth knowing that the Performance Crankshaft Pulley is still important in the engine.

Chrysler 200 Crankshaft Pulley Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the crankshaft pulley in 2.7L V6 engine on Chrysler 200?
A: Disconnect the negative battery cable from the remote ground terminal. Loosen the lug nuts on the right front wheel, raise the front of the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the right front wheel and inner fender liner. Remove the drivebelts. Use a strap wrench around the crankshaft pulley to hold it while using a breaker bar and socket to remove the crankshaft pulley center bolt; a chain-type wrench may be used if an old drivebelt or rag is wrapped around the crankshaft pulley first. Insert special tool #8194 into the center of the crankshaft where the bolt was, then pull the damper off the crankshaft with a puller, ensuring the puller is pressing against the special tool or bolt. The jaws of the puller must only contact the hub of the pulley, not the outer ring. The crankshaft pulley covers the end of the crankshaft, so a special pin #8194 or a long Allen-head bolt should be inserted into the crankshaft nose for the puller's tapered tip to push against to prevent damage to the crankshaft pulley. Check the surface on the pulley hub that the oil seal rides on; if it has been grooved from long-time contact with the seal, a press-on sleeve may be available to renew the sealing surface, which can be pressed into place with a hammer and a block of wood. Lubricate the pulley hub with clean engine oil and reinstall the crankshaft pulley using a vibration damper installation tool to press it onto the crankshaft. Install the crankshaft pulley retaining bolt and tighten it to the specified torque. The remainder of installation follows the reverse order of removal.
