Chrysler Imperial Brake Caliper

The Brake Caliper in Chrysler Imperial vehicles provides the mechanical force which is required in the braking system after the hydraulic pressure has been supplied by the master cylinder to press the brake pads over the rotors, to stop or slow down the vehicle. Chrysler Imperial models incorporate fixed as well as floating Brake Calipers. There are two types of calipers: fixed and floating where fixed have multiple pistons on both sides of the rotor whereas the floating ones have pistons on one side and slide to apply pressure, thus, they cause some problems such as uneven wear of pads if not maintained properly. Through the years, there have been changes in Chrysler Imperial Brake Calipers and to date, there are types of replacement calipers, stock and performance to mention a few. It is therefore possible to find performance calipers with aspects like light metals and high temp seals in order to address different driving characteristics. Chrysler Imperial vehicles' Brake Caliper requires periodic inspection and maintenance in order to satisfy its performance and safety requirements.
