Chrysler Laser Crankshaft Seal

The Crankshaft Seal which is fitted in Chrysler Laser vehicles is a part situated at the front of the engine to eliminate leakage in the crankcase of oil. Made of a combination of metal and rubber, this round seal is vital in the preservation of the lubrication all through the engine so it reduces the friction and therefore the wearing out of the parts of the engines. A Chrysler Laser, like any other car, when used for a number of years is likely to develop a problem with places like the Crankshaft Seal which may cause the car to leak oil and several other problems in high quality Chrysler Laser cars. There is thus the need to understand the signs that the Crankshaft Seal is failing, so that replacement can be done before causing any harm to the Chrysler Laser.

Chrysler Laser Crankshaft Seal Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you remove and install Crankshaft Seal on Chrysler Laser?
A: With the Timing Belt and sprockets, the Oil Pan, and the intermediate shaft sprocket removed for access, unbolt and remove the oil seal housing retaining bolts for both the 2.2L (top) and 2.5L front oil seal housing. Use a punch and hammer to drive the old oil seal from the housing. Apply a thin coat of RTV sealant to the inner surface of the housing, place the new seal in position, and carefully tap it into place with a soft-face hammer. Lubricate the inner circumference of the seal with white lithium-base grease and apply a 1 mm bead of anaerobic gasket sealant to the engine block mating surfaces of the seal housing. Position the housing on the engine, install the retaining bolts, and tighten them to the specified torque.
